Div Com reviews traffic scenario in Jammu City | KNO

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 01 (KNO) : Divisional Commissioner, Hemant Kumar Sharma, convened a meeting to review the traffic scenario in Jammu city besides discussing measures to further streamline the traffic movement, here today. IGP Traffic Jagjit Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, SE JDA B L Bhagat, Joint Commissioner JMC, Rajesh Sharma, SSP Traffic, Nisha Nathyal, Traffic Advisor Anuj Malhotra, RTO Jammu Deep Raj, SP Traffic Rural Shaheen Wahid besides senior functionaries of various departments attended the meeting. Threadbare discussion was held on various vital issues including factors affecting traffic volume in Jammu city, measures to attain congestion free movement of vehicles in various areas of Jammu city, redesigning of various rotary and T-Junctions, traffic congestion on Jammu Akhnoor road, Paloura, Amphalla chowk, Janipur road, Tallab Tillo Road, Satwari Chowk and various other roads, congestion due to trucks, congestion on Jammu Bye Pass at Narwal besides others. Emphasizing better traffic management, Hemant Kumar asked the concerned authorities to take all requisite measures to ensure de-congestion of traffic in the city. He stressed on maintaining synergy between all concerned agencies to ensure smooth traffic movement. Div Com directed the concerned department to make marking on roads for parking of vehicles to regulate traffic management. He directed the JDA for blacktopping of the left out roads in Transport Nagar at the earliest. Hemant Kumar also directed for vigil on traffic violators through regular checking. He asked the concerned to put in place a comprehensive mechanism to tackle the menace of over speeding besides generating awareness among the people regarding the importance of following traffic rules for their own safety.(KNO)
